Toronto’s culinary repertoire now includes Catalan tapas. Chef Ramon Simarro whose experience consists of both Michelin-star restaurants and popular casual eateries focuses on seasonal products alongside authentic ingredients from Spain to re-imagine a menu that marries innovation and fun with Barcelona classics.

BARROCO
One of my favourite restaurants to end my Montreal trip and one I was recommended by somebody special. I love where this restaurant is situated and the vibe it gives. The food was absolutely amazing and delicious, we loved the mains as the Paella Borroco and the Fletán Moules. Which was the Halibut. The Halibut and the Paella. Truly a must when visiting Montreal.

A great place for those looking for a light delicious meal and a drink away from the hustle and bustle of the district! Not for those on an empty stomach looking for a full meal!Food 4/5As this is a tapas place, it’s a great place for delicious appetizers that pair well with alcohol, however, if you are looking for a full meal, then I would recommend looking somewhere else! It’s a great place to come and talk while sipping on recommended alcohol and tasting the different appetizers. There are a wide variety of delicious dishes on the menu, but my personal favourites were the fresh crab, avocado and salmon roe cannoli and the sprinkled truffle egg yolks. Both were absolutely delicious.Service 4/5Kind and fast service. The staff member that served us was very accommodating, and happily recommended different menu items and alcohol that paired well with each dish.Interior 5/5I loved the interior. Not only did it fit the metallic and brick vibe of the district, but it also managed to retain a quiet and calming atmosphere. Maybe it was the lights and the glass? Or maybe because the interior was so spacious! Anyway, I loved it!

DO NOT order from their “evening specials” menu!!!We ordered a couple drinks and the scallop appetizer to start. All three were good, especially the scallop appetizer - that was delicious. However, we both ordered from the evening specials list and were under the assumption that each item was their own unique dish. It sounded very good on paper.Instead we received two of the same plates, just with a different protein and sauce.I ordered the walleye filet and the boyfriend ordered the duck leg. We both got the exact same unseasoned steamed vegetables on top of a sweet potato purée. The only difference was our protein and sauce. See the photos - we could have made better meals at home with a meal prep service.Service was attentive and the scallops were delicious, so there are the two stars.

I think this is the first review I've left for a place but this restaurant deserves the absolute world. This place immediately skyrocketed to the top of my list of best Montreal restaurants. Everything - from the food, to the drinks, to the service, to the vibes, to the prices - was perfect. I just spent a few weeks in Spain and can confirm the tapas is the real deal (the chef herself is from Barcelona I'm fairly sure). The staff were the sweetest and made us feel at home.In particular, this place is great for queer folks. My trans girlfriend and I were greeted confidently with a good evening

Service was friendly and professional. The ambiance is great and the food was delicious! My favourite was the avocado and crab salad. I’d say it’s a must-try. The east coast oysters with shoestring fries were great but pricey for what it is. The tortilla de patatas was yummy and perfectly cooked. Lastly, the acorn sausages were great but felt like it was missing something.

Giving 3 stars for the yummy short rib. Honestly one of the more disappointing places I've been to in a while. The value for money is a bit of a joke.To be fair, our friend ordered the shortrib and it was very good. The sauce was tasty, the meat was well cooked and overall the dish was delicious. It's unfortunate that it was overshadowed by the rest of our disappointing food. The tartar was wildly disappointing, as was the eggplant side. We each took one bite of the eggplant and none of us liked it. See photo. There are so many great restaurants in the Old Port with similar price points ($100+) that offer a much greater value (quality!!!) for money.Overall we were unimpressed with the experience and would not return.

As soon as you step in, you'll be surprised by how warm and cozy the place is. Carmen makes you feel at home and takes time to explain every intricate detail about the menu. She will also make pairing suggestions if needed, such as the pan con tomate" and the "boquerones".The only regret is not trying it out earlier

Snug and cozy place in the heart of Old-Montreal. Barroco can barely squeeze in 30 people, but this place packs a punch thanks to good food and amazing drinks combo.

I tried something that was out of my comfort zone so I ordered a salmon lasagna and was out of this world! The place overall was great, service very friendly and the food had a great flavor. My wife and Mom had the salchicha penne pasta and both loved them.Place at lunch time didn’t need a reservation and prices aren’t horrible. We sat outside by the street having a nice weather and people watch. Will definitely be back and try more dishes.
